WTF is a WATER cream? | WTF series | Skin Care Tuesdays | Philly MUA | Natty Contrera Artistry

I think I've done a really good job at staying consistent with blogging lately. To reward myself, I decided to add another series to my other two weekly blogs. Some reward, huh? This one will be called the "WTF" Series. I won't do these as often as the others. I realize in the beauty industry, there are so many "fancy" terms created for things. New brands, new ingredients, beautiful packaging, and genius marketing makes it hard as a consumer to choose the right products for you. During my WTF Series, I will explain new trend terms for products that may not be the easiest to understand or I will bust skincare and makeup myths for ya. The ghostbuster of beauty. Dun nun na!

Let's get right down to business, WTF is a water cream? A water cream is an oil-free, H2O based moisturizer that usually has a gel-like consistency. This allows for beautiful dewy skin without excess grease or shine. Sounds easy and simple, right? There’s actually some pretty advanced science behind it. Water creams are filled with fantastic elements that go beyond just water. These elements allow the water to absorb easily into our skin, giving us instant hydration without the oil. How exactly are water creams hydrating then? Well, they use top skincare ingredients and technology, including Hyaluronic Acid. Not too sure about Hyaluronic Acid? Don't dwell too much on the name. It's naturally found in our bodies and our tissues. Many studies have shown that HA holds up to 1000 times its weight in water. It pulls moisture from the environment; therefore, it attracts more moisture to your skin. My current favorite water cream is Tidal by Sunday Riley. ($65 Sephora.com)

Tidal includes the following amazing ingredients "-1% Highly Purified, Alpha-arbutin: A gentle but powerful relative of hydroquinone, alpha-arbutin; aggressively brightens the appearance of hyperpigmentation and dark spots. -Papain (Papaya Enzymes): Exfoliates and smooths the upper layer of skin; for dry skin, softness is restored; for combination to congested skin, the look of clarity is restored. - Two forms of hyaluronic acid: Pulls water into the skin for intense hydration within minutes that lasts up to 24 hours -Tamarind Extract: Helps improve skin moisturization." (taken from Sephora.com listing) I hope that solved your "WTF" moment for today. Stay tuned for more from this new blog series, and as always, if there’s anything that makes you say “WTF”, let me know and maybe it will be showcased next time!
